Amarillo Grad Students, Resident Earn Awards, Travel Scholarships

Six graduate students from the School of Pharmacy’s Graduate Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences and a School of Medicine resident topped off their summers with poster awards and travel scholarships.

TTUHSC Public Health Program Receives Accreditation

The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) Masters of Public Health (MPH) program received accreditation from the Council on Education for Public Health. Theresa Byrd, DrPH, associate dean and chair of the TTUHSC Julia Jones Matthews Department of Public Health, said the program now is accredited until 2023.

TTUHSC Student Awarded Phi Kappa Phi Dissertation Fellowship

Kandis Wright was selected as a recipient of a 2018 Dissertation Fellowship from The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all disciplines. Wright is one of only ten recipients nationwide to receive the $10,000 fellowship.

Celebrating 30 Years of Research

Samuel Prien, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, started at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) in 1980. He remembered the creation of a student-run Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences event in 1988. This year marked the 30-year anniversary of the event, and Prien has served as the event judge for 25 years.

GPPS Student Selected for Grant

The Society of Toxicology Awards Committee recently selected Sharavan Ramachandran, a Ph.D. candidate in the School of Pharmacy’s Graduate Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences, to receive the Syngenta Fellowship Grant in Human Health Applications of New Technologies.
